The United Way of Southern Vancouver Island partners with community organizations to help people in our communities who are struggling. This year’s campaign will support four areas of action: isolated seniors, families in need, diversity, equity and inclusion and mental health and addictions.

2016 United Way campaign kickoff

September 29, 2016 - The Ring

The 2016 UVic United Way Greater Victoria (UWGV) annual campaign officially kicked off on Sept. 29. This year, UWGV is focusing on the people who have the power to change lives with each contribution they make. In support of this, the UVic 2016 fundraising goal is $275,000, including the pivotal fundraising efforts of the UVic Retirees Association (UVRA).

United Way: The power of you

January 21, 2016 - The Ring

The 2015 UVic United Way Greater Victoria (UWGV) annual campaign officially kicked off on Oct. 1 in the University Centre lobby, with inspiring words from Patricia Jelinski, CEO of United Way Greater Victoria, President Cassels and United Way partner Carmel Chamberlain. This year, UWGV is focusing on the people who have the power to change lives with each contribution they make, with the goal of increasing the donor base by 2,000 individuals. In support of this target, UVic aims to increase the number of donors by 100 over the next two years.

Carmel Chamberlain, coming full circle with United Way

Carmel Chamberlain, of UVic’s School of Public Health and Social Policy, knows full well the healing potential and importance of having a network of different types of support during times of struggle. This is especially true when the safety and happiness of one’s family is on the line. Carmel has been on both sides of the United Way’s efforts, both accessing United Way funded programs and services, and recently working with United Way as a Loaned Representative during the 2014 Greater Victoria fundraising campaign.

UVic wraps up successful United Way campaign

January 13, 2015 - The Ring

The thermometers are overflowing, and that can only mean one thing. UVic has completed another successful United Way campaign, exceeding our 2014 goal of $262,000. The final tally for money raised during the 2014 campaign, as of January 5, was $268,000. Thanks to more than 425 wonderful UVic United Way supporters, we were able to make a significant contribution to United Way Greater Victoria (UWGV) again this year.

Though the temperature may be dropping outside, the UVic United Way thermometers are only getting hotter, with the 2014 campaign 88 per cent of the way to the $250,000 goal. UVic United Way Campaign off to fast start

The UVic United Way is proud to announce that only two weeks after our kick-off on October 6 we are more than two-thirds of the way to our fundraising goal of $250,000. UVic is counting on the support of the entire campus community as the campaign pushes to meet its goal. During the month of October, all UVic employees received emails detailing the new online donation system used this year.
