Expert on Tour de France teaches the course

The following University of Victoria faculty member can provide an overview of the history of the Tour de France (July 4 to 26), plus other aspects such as doping and commercialization in sport:

Dr. Emile Fromet de Rosnay (Dept. of French) is an elite cyclist and an assistant professor at UVic. In July 2013, he launched an innovative new course at UVic, perfectly timed for the 100th anniversary of the Tour. He defines this course as “a flipped classroom,” the type of highly accessible course which enhances the learning experience by asking students to prepare for discussions and bring their own responses to the online classroom rather than relying primarily on lectures. He is teaching the course this summer. Fran325: Tour de France takes place completely online, in English, and partly via Twitter (#tdf325). Read the original campus story about Dr. Fromet de Rosnay and his course.
