UVic requires MFA for critical information systems
University Systems will be adding support for UVic Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to a number of critical systems to improve the privacy and security of campus information resources.
Beginning May 15, 2022, UVic MFA will be required in order to access Banner admin pages, FAST, Exchange email and calendar, and the Virtual Private Network (VPN).
UVic MFA strengthens NetLink account security by requiring a second factor when you log in to online services. The first factor is a passphrase and the second factor is something you have – such as a device in your possession. UVic MFA uses a quick, simple push system through a mobile app on your phone, or a hardware token used at the time of login.
