Experts on federal budget
The following University of Victoria experts are available to media for comment on the federal government’s budget announcement scheduled for March 22:
Rob Gillezeau (Dept. of Economics) is an economist with broad expertise in public policy, including employment, taxation and social programs. He has particular expertise in the economics of labour law and anti-poverty programs. He can comment on the implications of the budget in these areas, as well as the government's fiscal framework and the federal budget in a broader electoral context. He is available to media all day on March 22 and through next week. (Office: 250-472-5948 or gillezr@uvic.ca)
Elisabeth Gugl (Faculty of Social Sciences) is an economist who teaches in the areas of labour economics, public finance and microeconomic theory. She studies family economics and the decision-making that takes place within families, and can comment on what implications the budget might have for families. She expects the federal government to follow up on their campaign promise and introduce a unified support program for families with children that benefits families in low income more than very rich families. She is available to media all day on March 22 and through next week. (Office: 250-721-8538 or egugl@uvic.ca)
