Milestone moment for Spring 2014 grads

Years of study culminate this week for more than 3,500 University of Victoria graduating students, with nine spring convocation ceremonies taking place June 9 to 13. This spring marks the 50th anniversary of UVic’s first convocation ceremony.

Among the members of the graduating class is Ana Zehtabi-Oskuie. She is available for media interviews tomorrow and Thursday, June 12 by arrangement before or immediately after the 2:30 p.m. convocation ceremony, to discuss her research, her plans for the future and the choices that brought her to Victoria. The Iranian-born electrical engineering student attended the University of Tehran before coming to UVic.

Zehtabi-Oskuie earned her master’s while conducting key research in an emerging field that uses light to manipulate microscopic objects. She is receiving the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal this week. More on Zehtabi-Oskuie’s research
