Expert on EU elections

The following University of Victoria faculty member is available to discuss the European parliamentary elections (May 22 – 25), which are taking place during a period of profound political and economic crisis, and will shape EU politics for the next five years. Over 413 million European citizens will have the opportunity to influence the future direction of the EU.

Oliver Schmidtke (Political Science/Director of UVic’s Centre for Global Studies) is an expert in European politics and integration, immigration and ethnic conflict. He can discuss why the election is one of the largest democratic events in the world and why the upcoming vote is set to be the most important election to date.
