Experts on federal budget

The following University of Victoria experts are available to discuss the federal government’s 2015 budget announcement on April 21:

Elisabeth Gugl (Faculty of Social Sciences) is an economist who teaches in the areas of labour economics, public finance and microeconomic theory. She studies family economics and the decision-making that takes place within families, and can comment on what implications the budget might have for families. Michael J. Prince (Faculty of Human and Social Development) is an expert on federal-provincial relations, national social insurance programs and income security. His research interests include: trends in social policy over the past 25 years and the next generations; federal-provincial relations; Aboriginal governance; and policy-making in disability politics and policy issues. Kimberley Speers (Faculty of Human and Social Development) is a political scientist who teaches in the areas of Canadian politics, public administration and policy, food politics, local government and BC politics. She can comment on political strategies and tactics, regional analysis (the West and BC), and election campaign analysis. (Office: 250-721-8057 or kspeers@uvic.ca)

Lindsay Tedds (Faculty of Human and Social Development) is an expert on the economics of taxation and tax policy. Her research is focused on applied economic research, policy analysis, public economics and applied microeconomics. In addition to teaching with UVic’s School of Public Administration, she has held several posts with the federal government in Ottawa in the areas of public economics and policy implementation.
