AVP appointed for communications and marketing

Mere weeks after submitting the final chapter of her doctoral dissertation, Lindsey Fair accepted an offer to become UVic’s inaugural Associate Vice-President, University Communications and Marketing. Fair will start at UVic on May 2, 2022.

Fair leaves the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT)—one of Canada’s largest polytechnic institutions—where she served as Associate Vice-President of Marketing. Prior to that she was the Director of Marketing, Communications and Recruitment at Queen’s University.

UVic VP External Relations Chris Horbachewski says Fair “will be a creative, innovative, ‘out-of-the-box’ leader for our university marketing and communication efforts. She is collaborative and has been successful in leading high-functioning and innovative teams through periods of change. Lindsey has substantive experience in marketing, communications, brand development and renewal, and digital communications. Further, she has implemented the use of KPIs and data-informed metrics to guide and evaluate marketing and communication initiatives.”

Fair’s research is directly in line with that background, as she nears completion of her doctorate in economic geography and place branding at Queen’s University.

In addition to her experience in post-secondary, she has owned a business in Nepal and won young entrepreneur of the year while running her own marketing agency.

Fair is also committed to decolonization efforts and has implemented initiatives to raise her and her team’s understanding and commitment to action while at SAIT and Queen’s.
