Afghan crisis resources

Over the past weeks, we have witnessed the situation in Afghanistan rapidly unfold with great concern. The University of Victoria community is keeping all of those impacted by this crisis and with ties to Afghanistan in our hearts and thoughts.

UVic supports the Canadian government’s actions announced on August 13, 2021 to welcome 20,000 vulnerable Afghans threatened by the Taliban and forced to flee Afghanistan. Vulnerable Afghans may be able to access support through the Canadian government.

Recognizing the significant emotional and mental strain this situation may be causing, we encourage all those impacted to access available support. Please take care of your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellness during this stressful time.

The Student Wellness team provides holistic care, for your wellbeing emotionally, physically and spiritually. You don’t need to be in Victoria to access care. Contact us for virtual and in-person appointments with counsellors, doctors, nurses, chaplains and more.
