University Systems operates a large virtualization server cluster based on VMware. Members of the university community may request virtual servers on this cluster to run their applications. Various versions of Linux and Microsoft Windows are supported. The base configuration provides 1 CPU and 4GB RAM, but customized servers are available if required.

What is the cost for this service?

A standard virtual machine costs $150/year.

When is this service available?

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. You can be notified of service interruptions by subscribing to Informed.

Other information

Clients will be asked to sign a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with University Systems which further defines the terms and conditions of this service.  See also: Why virtualize?
