The UVic VPN service provides a secure communication back to the campus network. VPN servers employ encryption and other security measures to ensure that any data sent on the Internet will not be intercepted.

How do I request or access this service?
Faculty, staff, and students with a valid NetLink ID can download and run the UVic VPN client on their computers.
Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client - Supported Operating Systems
- Microsoft-supported versions of Windows 10 for ARM64-based PCs
- Windows 8, 8.1 and current Microsoft-supported Windows 10 x86 (32-bit) and X64 (64-bit)
- MacOS 11.x, 10.15, 10.14 (only 64-bit is supported)
- Linux Red Hat 8.2, 7.6 & Ubuntu 20.04 (LTS), 18.04 (LTS), and 16.04 (LTS) (only 64-bit is supported, all versions)
- iOS: iPhone and iPad, iOS 10.0 or later
- Android: version 4.0 and up
What is the cost for this service?
This service is provided free of charge.
When is this service available?
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. You can be informed of service interruptions by subscribing to Informed.
