EDC2 NetApp updates

Effective date: April 29, 2017 at 07:00:00 am(2 hours from now)

Effective 2 hours from now: We will be applying OS/firmware updates to the EDC2 NetApp (disk14) cluster. Time to completion is approximately 3 hours.

During the upgrade, CIFS clients (home.uvic.ca & *.storage.uvic.ca) may experience a very brief interruption in service. To minimize the possibility of losing work in progress, save your work often or avoid using the service during the update window. If you do experience a brief interruption, Windows clients should reconnect automatically but MacOS clients may need to reconnect manually.

Brief outage of Banner INB

Effective date: May 02, 2017 at 06:00:00 pm(3 days from now)

Effective 3 days from now: There will be a short outage of Banner INB at 6pm on Tuesday May 2nd to apply a configuration change to the server. This outage is expected to last less than five minutes.

The database and self service banner are unaffected by this outage, and will remain accessible throughout.

NETS: Phone VLAN updates in ARC,HEA,SUB,UVC at 7:15 AM on April 28, 2017

Network Services will be updating the VOIP VLAN settings for switches in ARC, HEA, SUB and UVC at 7:15 AM on Friday April 28, 2017.

Phones will reboot while they download their new configuration, some switchports may reset to update their VLAN settings including wireless APs.

Work will be completed by 8 AM.

Research Backup Service tapes inaccessible

Effective 12 hours ago: A hardware fault in the tape library robot has resulted in all tape media being inaccessible in the Research Backup service. The will result in all backup and restores failing until the hardware fault can be resolved.

Unfortunately the closest part is coming from Toronto and will not arrive until the morning of Monday May 1.
