April 26 CourseSpaces Upgrade

Effective date: April 26, 2018 at 02:00:00 pm(2 days from now)

Effective 2 days from now: On Thursday, April 26, CourseSpaces will be undergoing a scheduled upgrade. Users will be unable to access CourseSpaces from approximately 7:00am-1:00pm on April 26. Please contact if you have any questions.

Shibboleth IDP update

Effective 18 hours from now: There is a small update to the shibboleth tonight, there should not be a noticeable outage.

Wireless controller configuration update - 7:30 AM April 25 2018

Effective 1 day from now: Network services will be updating an IP address on the wireless controllers serving all wireless devices on campus at 7:30 AM on Wednesday April 25, 2018.

Each controller will be rebooted one at a time to complete an IP change to allow for future use of the CloudFlare DNS. This change requires a reboot of the controllers, causing associated access points to reboot.

We will first reboot the inside-ring controller, then the outside, to allow access points to fail over. No extended outage expected. Users on access points which reboot will experience a short disconnection while the APs associate to the backup controller, and again when they fall back to their main controller.

Work will be completed by 8 AM.

VPN authentication/connection issues

Effective 14 hours ago: System Administrators have determined The VPN issue appears to be isolated to iOS users remotely at SFU connected to the Eduroam wireless network, users can connect without issue via cellular data. Troubleshooting is continuing. UVic VPN service is experiencing intermittent connectivity and login issues. System Administrators are aware of the issue and are working to resolve. This post will be updated as we learn more.
