Backup hardware fault - fix ETA Tue Aug 9 morning

The hardware repairs have been completed and the backup system should be working normally again.

Update Aug 9 7:00pm

The vendor was unable to fix the issue with today's work. They will continue tomorrow.

The tape library used for backups has a hardware fault preventing tape access. Parts for repair will not be available until Tues Aug 9.

Affected clients:

1. Research backup may be affected prior to repairs
2. Most Research restores will be affected because most Research backups are stored on tape.
3. Most Admin Server archive retrieval will be affected because most archives are stored on tape.

NETDRIVE Maintenance: Thursday @ 10:00PM

Effective date: August 19, 2022 at 05:00:00 am(3 days from now)

Effective 3 days from now: We will be performing routine maintenance on NETDRIVE beginning at 10:00pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022. The work should be completed by midnight.

During the maintenance the server will be restarted and the following services will be interrupted:

- all Windows shares beginning with \netdrive
- all MacOS volumes served from netdrive.uvic.ca

Therefore, please avoid using those services during the maintenance window. If you can't avoid using the services, save your work often to minimize the possibility of losing work in progress.

UVIC & OAK Domain Controller Maintenance: Thursday @ 10:00PM

Effective date: August 19, 2022 at 05:00:00 am(3 days from now)

Effective 3 days from now: We will be performing routine maintenance on the UVIC and OAK Active Directory Domain Controllers beginning at 11:00PM on Thursday, August 18, 2022. The work should be completed by 1AM.

There is no anticipated interruption in service and no action is required on your part. This message is just to let you know the work is being performed.

Student Self Service Registration Outage

Effective 8 hours from now: There will be a brief outage of Banner Student Self Service Registration application on Tuesday August 16th between 6.30 a.m to 7 a.m for scheduled maintenance.
