The University of Victoria provides Wi-Fi access for UVic faculty, staff, students and affiliates with valid UVic NetLink ID, as well as guest wireless access for visiting students, researchers and scholars, and campus visitors who wish to connect to the Internet.

 

The following five wireless access services are currently available:

UVic

The UVic Wi-Fi is a secure service available to UVic faculty, staff, students and affiliates with a valid UVic NetLink ID.

eduroam

The eduroam Wi-Fi is a secure service for visiting students, researchers and scholars, and requires a valid identity from another participating institution.

Wireless for guests

The UVicStart Wi-Fi provides an open Wi-Fi service for campus visitors.

Wireless for conference

Conference Wi-Fi is a secure service available upon request for conference attendees on campus.

WPA2-PSK wifi – UVic-BYOD

WPA2-PSK wifi is for devices like game consoles and media players.

How to Connect

Sponsored guests who are visiting the university for a period of time can apply for an affiliate primary NetLink ID.

Special note: Intel wireless issue with Wifi 6 requires driver update

If you have a laptop using an Intel wireless network adapter, you might need a software update!

We have upgraded our wireless network to Wifi 6, and affected laptops cannot see our wifi until they’ve been updated.

Please check with Intel’s website to see if there is an update for yours!
