Coaching skills

  • apply individual and team development strategies
  • use ethical practices in coaching and sport development
  • document and assess outcomes to inform future actions
  • identify credible sources of information and adapt findings to inform coaching practice
  • teach athletes the importance of skill acquisition, performance and biomechanics
  • teach athletes about periodization and sport psychology
  • communicate about standards of practice with professionals to advance the field

Technical skills

  • apply the principles of motor skill acquisition
  • choose appropriate athlete development techniques and explain the rationale for your choices
  • develop and use needs assessments that support sport and athlete development
  • communicate assessment outcomes to athletes and stakeholders
