Career programs

UVic offers a range of career support programs to help you find a job you love.

Your Career Starts Here

Your Career Starts Here is our free online program that will help you graduate career-ready and understand your true potential.

You'll find your answers to:

  • What do you love?
  • What are you great at?
  • What does the world need?
  • What can you be paid for?

Program format

The course is organized into four brief modules that you'll complete mostly online at your own pace, plus a few in-person activities that will bring your learning to life.

You'll move through the four modules in the order you choose. You can choose to do as few or as many as you like.

How to register

  1. You can self-enroll in the course in Brightspace.

Career exploration

Career Clarity is our free online program for UVic alumni that will help you:

  • generate career ideas
  • use online resources to research possible career paths
  • arrange and conduct in-person informational meetings
  • decide on the next steps in your career

Program format

Career Clarity is for UVic alumni only and runs online through Brightspace each term. The program is 6 weeks and you can expect to work on it 3-5 hours each week.

You'll work through a series of exercises and assignments on your own and participate in online discussions with a career educator and other participants.

You can also meet with a career educator 1-on-1 to review your progress.

How to register

  1. Complete the Career Clarity application.
  2. Send it along with a copy of your résumé.

The next program will begin in the fall of 2024. Check back soon for the date.

If you're a current student, you can sign up for a Counselling Services career group (offered in conjunction with co-op and career) that's focused on career exploration and more.
