Find places to study
Looking for somewhere to study on campus? The library has lots of options.
- book a study room
- use drop-in study spaces throughout the library
- visit the Diana M. Priestly Library for quiet and cozy spots
- book a walk station to help you stay on task
We have some study spaces just for grad students.
- find open study space for grad students
- reserve a grad locker for the term
- get focused writing time in the Grad Writing Room
Borrow more than just books
You can borrow all kinds of useful things for free! Here are some of the highlights. (Along with books and articles, of course.)
- find free textbooks using our online tool
- borrow laptops, chargers, headphones and other tech equipment
- watch movies
- use fidget and sensory kits to help you focus
- borrow a bike lock from the Ask Us Desk
Talk to a librarian
Have a tricky research question? Not sure how to get started on an essay? You can get one-on-one help from a librarian.
How it works:
- Find the librarian who is an expert on your subject.
- Book an appointment for an in-person or Zoom meeting.
- Take as much time as you need: from 5 to 45 minutes.
Librarians are here to help all UVic students. No question is too big or too small!
Learn something new
Browse our workshops to see what’s coming up. In our workshops, you can:
- upgrade your research and data skills
- learn to use Canva, Zotero, RStudio, AI research tools and other software
- make a zine, use a 3D printer or record a podcast
Fun events
Want to meet new people? Need a break from studying? Come to one of our free events.
You can watch a classic movie, learn a new craft, chat about books or work quietly with others.
