Leadership & volunteering

Leadership programs let you engage in meaningful hands-on learning outside of the classroom. You’ll meet others with similar values and interests, gain new skills and experience for your resume, and most importantly, give back to a cause that matters to you.

Student leadership programs

The Office of Student Life coordinates the Student Life Leadership Program. Student leaders who participate in these programs will receive co-curricular credit for successfully completing their program. It’s your chance to make a real impact on our campus community.

You can join the Student Mental Health Leadership Program (SMHLP), the Consent Advocates and Relationship Educators (CARE) program or the QVic Life Leadership program, which focuses on promoting the LGBTQIA2S+ community on campus.

Volunteer with UVic orientation

Get involved with UVic Orientation and help welcome new students and families to the University of Victoria.

As an orientation volunteer you’ll connect new students to the UVic community by welcoming, inspiring and supporting them. We run programs and activities to introduce new students to our culture and values. They’ll get to know campus resources and services, meet other incoming students and explore campus.

Co-op & Career Services volunteer opportunities

Volunteer with co-op and career services for career and personal development.

By getting involved, you can:

  • contribute to a cause you believe in
  • use your unique skills or talents to make a measurable difference
  • make new friends with similar interests
  • try something completely different from your area of study
  • find balance away from your regular routine of classes, studying and work

UVic Global Community

The UVic Global Community initiative creates space for international and domestic students, staff and faculty to share perspectives and celebrate diversity. We aim to foster intercultural connections and cultivate an inclusive and globally-minded campus. You can get involved by joining our:

Human Rights Education Volunteers Program

Are you passionate about social justice and human rights issues? Join the Human Rights Education Volunteers Program. You could take part in workshops promoting an inclusive, respectful and welcoming campus.

Vikes Nation Ambassador Program

Vikes Athletics and Recreation offers the Vikes Nation Ambassador Program. You'll engage in student-led initiatives and promote the blue-and-gold school spirit across campus. There are also co-curricular opportunities within this program.

As a Vikes Nation Ambassador, you’ll be responsible for promoting Vikes Nation and its benefits around the UVic campus. You’ll volunteer at Vikes Nation events and foster a sense of campus community.
