Reregistration

You will need to apply for re-registration if you:

  • were withdrawn under any other circumstances
  • are transferring into another degree program
  • are continuing with non-degree studies
  • are adding another program or applying to a new one

Returning after an approved withdrawal

You have to submit an application through the online application system if you:

  • wish to return to your prior degree program
  • wish to move into a new degree program with transfer credit from your prior degree program

In the online application you'll have to upload:

You’ll be able to register for classes once your application is approved. To avoid delays, you should apply well in advance of your desired return date. We also recommend that you communicate with your current or prospective department.

Review the UVic graduate academic calendar for more information about leaves of absence and withdrawals.

Continuing with non-degree registration

When you are admitted as a non-degree student you will be registered in the courses requested on your application if they are approved by the academic department.

You will need to complete a graduate registration form for subsequent or additional registration in the same or next academic session. If you take a session off you must re-apply for admission through the online application system.

See the UVic graduate academic calendar for more information about graduate non-degree student admission and registration.

Transferring to a different degree program

You can apply to transfer to a new degree program without completing your current one. To do so, you must submit an application to transfer through the online application system.

You’ll upload a course retention request form with your application.

You’re required to inform your current supervisor of your intentions. You can speed up the application process by uploading memos of support from your current and proposed supervisors.

You’ll be able to register for classes in your new program once your application is approved.

To avoid delays, you should apply well in advance of your desired return date. We also recommend that you communicate with both your home and prospective departments.

See the UVic graduate academic calendar for more information on transferring from a master's to a doctoral degree program.

You need to apply in order to return to your program after a violation of Faculty of Graduate Studies policy (withdrawal without permission). Use the online application system to re-apply.

You’ll need to have the following documents at the time of application:

You’ll be able to register for classes in your program once your application is approved.
