Information Security Office

The Information Security Office is accountable for implementing policies and procedures to minimize information security risks and responding to security incidents when they occur.

Mission

The Information Security Office supports the University's commitment to create a secure yet open computing environment in which the University Community can teach, learn, conduct research, and perform administrative functions. Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the ISO is responsible for overall coordination and management of the Information Security program for the University. This program will allow the university to manage information security in accordance with policies and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

Structure

The Information Security Office works closely with the Privacy and with Records Management staff to ensure a comprehensive information management program is in place.

Security Standards

The Information Security Office maintains UVic's Information Security Standards to support our mission of ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of UVic's information resources.
