Be receptive

To be open to new ideas; allow your assumptions to be challenged and actively seeking out new ways of thinking, being and doing.

Example for colleagues

When a colleague proposes an idea that you immediately think is ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’, be open to considering the potential value of their idea and how it could work.

Example for those who lead

When someone critiques your approach, rather than defensively rejecting their opinion or arguing with them, consider what might be the merits of their perspective and ask them to help you better understand.
