Act with discretion

To be thoughtful about what information you are sharing, with whom and why. Be aware of the potential harm that comes from sharing information without consent.

Example for colleagues

Only share someone else’s story if:

  1. you have their permission, or
  2. they have told you something that indicates a potential safety risk.
Then only share with the relevant person who needs the information to do their job.
Example for those who lead

When an employee is going on leave for personal reasons, and their presence will be missed, check in with them on what you can communicate to the rest of the team about their absence, and ask how they would like it to be shared.
