Care

To show kindness by expressing empathy and concern. This does not call on us to express emotional intimacy, only consideration. We often spend as much time with our colleagues as we do with friends and family and it is therefore important to take care of these relationships.

Example for colleagues

When a colleague seems to be feeling ‘low’, depending on the situation, check in and offer to go for a walk with them, give them more space, or bring them a coffee, etc.

Example for those who lead

Follow up with a student who has shared something difficult about themselves as a reason for needing an extension. Demonstrate you have not forgotten about them. Offer support options.
