Be respectful

To treat others with dignity regardless of their role, background or identity.
Example for colleagues

If a colleague says something you find ill-advised or short-sighted, do not dismiss or belittle – treat them with dignity and care. Ask more questions. As appropriate, gently point out the potential limitations of their idea.

Example for those who lead

When a team member or student makes a mistake, respond with constructive feedback and avoid a tone or approach that could be perceived as mocking or belittling. This requires you to recognize and be mindful of your power over them.
