How to apply

Ready to apply to UVic? We’ll walk you through the steps of our application process.

1. Choose a program

We offer over a hundred undergraduate degrees, certificates and diplomas so you’re sure to find the right fit at UVic.

Please make sure you meet the minimum admission and language requirements for the program you've selected. You will find the admission requirements on the individual program pages.

2. Submit your application

Application deadlines

Applications for January 2022 are now closed. The online application will reopen in September for the Summer 2022 and September 2022 entry points.

Application fees

When you submit your application, you will be charged an application fee (payable online by credit card). Your application will not be processed until this payment has been received.

  • Application fee if all transcripts come from institutions within Canada: $79.25
  • Application fee if any transcripts come from institutions outside Canada: $137.00

Confirmation and introductory emails

After you submit your application, you'll receive two emails from UVic:

  • A confirmation email that includes your UVic student number (e.g. V00123456). You should receive this email in less than two business days after submitting your application.
  • An introductory email from your admission assistant with their contact information. You can connect with your admission assistant with any application follow-up questions. In most cases, you should receive it less than one week after submitting your application. During high-volume periods, it may take longer to arrive.

Once you receive the introductory email you can access the application portal to see the status of your application and a checklist of tasks that you need to complete.

We will contact you by email only. Add @uvic to your email safe senders to be sure that messages from UVic don't get caught in your spam filter. To change your email address, contact your admission assistant.

3. Submit your interim grades

Once you've submitted your application, you'll need to provide us with your grades.

  • If you're studying at a high school in Canada, or at a Canadian-curriculum high school outside of Canada, you can self-report your interim grades or predicted International Baccalaureate (IB) scores to your application.
  • If you're studying at an international high school, upload your in-progress transcript showing your grades and/or predicted IB scores to your application.
  • If you're studying at a college or university, upload your interim grades and/or predicted exam results to your UVic application.
  • If you've graduated from high school, college or university, arrange to have your official transcript sent directly to UVic.

What else should I do right now?

If you haven't already done so, it's a great time to think about residence and scholarships.

4. Accept your offer

We'll send your offer of admission by email. Be sure to carefully read the information in the admission summary and important notes sections of your offer email.

To accept your offer of admission:

  1. Pay your acceptance deposit
Submit your $200 acceptance deposit by the deadline specified in your admission offer. The acceptance deposit is non-refundable and will be credited toward your tuition fees.
  2. Verify your payment
Sign in to Online tools to confirm that UVic has received your acceptance deposit. Allow at least 2-3 business days for the payment to be processed.
  3. Submit your final grades and required documents
Arrange for official transcripts with your final grades to be sent to UVic, along with any other documents required to meet the conditions of your offer.

Defer your offer

If you’ve been admitted to a first-year program, you may be able to defer your admission to the following September.

Deferrals are usually only available to current high school students. Most other applicants must reapply when they are ready to begin their studies.
