Teaching is both personal and professional. This program helps you develop a strong teaching identity rooted in your values, while preparing you to work confidently in diverse school communities.

You won’t be expected to figure teaching out on your own. Throughout the program, you’ll observe, shadow and practice teaching with support from mentors and field advisers. These experiences help ease the transition from student to teacher while building confidence in real classroom environments.

You’ll connect theory to practice through school-based practicum experiences in local classrooms. Program coordinators help match you with placements that align with your interests and experience. 

International practicums

Take your learning global by completing a practicum at one of UVic’s partner schools in Sweden, Japan or Tanzania. International practicums help you build cross-cultural skills, broaden your perspective and gain experience teaching in different educational contexts.
