Our online MPA course-based program is for active professionals interested in career advancement. You can complete this degree while you work full-time.

You'll explore the theory and practices of policy analysis and public management. You’ll gain a mix of skills that will give you career opportunities as a manager, analyst and consultant.

Outcomes

The online MPA course-based option focuses on the topics of governance, policy, management, research, economics, finance, human resources and communications.

Throughout the program, you will develop professional writing and research skills. You will put new-found knowledge and expertise to practice immediately in your own work environment.

Program specific requirements

  • currently employed with and have a minimum of three years of full-time public sector or non-profit work experience
Note: if your grade point average is below B+ or you hold a 3-year undergraduate degree, we may consider your application if you have four or more years of relevant professional experience

As part of your application, you must submit:

  • references letters from two academic referees
    • If it has been more than five years since you last attended a post-secondary institution, you may have three professional references in place of academic referees.
    • In your application, include the names and email addresses of your referees.
      • Graduate Admissions will send your referees a link to complete an assessment report and/or upload their reference letters.
  • unofficial transcripts all post-secondary institutions
  • a letter of intent describing why you are seeking an MPA and how the degree relates to your career plans, personal values and goals
  • a professional résumé

Note: If you do not have a Canadian undergraduate degree, you will need to write and submit your official GRE (Gradute Record Examination) or GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) scores.
