Before your first co-op

Complete the co-op course

After you're accepted into a co-op program, you'll complete a co-op preparation course, where you'll learn how to create an effective résumé and cover, how to apply for jobs, and how to prepare for the workplace.

This prep course is often called Introduction to Professional Practice. The content and name may be different depending on your co-op program area.

After you've completed the prep course, your co-op office will make you eligible to search and apply for co-op jobs in the co-op portal.

Agree to co-op guidelines

As a co-op student, you'll follow the guidelines and expectations described in the Co-op Terms and Conditions.

Practice mock interviews

Most co-op students will also take part in a mock interview, where you'll practice your interview skills with a real employer.

They'll give you on-the-spot feedback to help you prepare for the real thing.
