Honorary Degrees

The Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees and Other Forms of Recognition considers recommendations to the Senate of candidates for Honorary Degrees.

The next deadline for submissions for calls for nominations is September 6, 2019.

Awarding an Honorary Degree is a wonderful way for the university to recognize and honour individuals who have achieved great things and celebrate what we value. In the past, these degrees have been awarded to such honourees as:

  • Dr. Cindy Blackstock
  • Honourable Judith Guichon
  • Ambassador Nicholas Kuanga
  • Robert Waisman
  • Barney Williams Jr.
  • Joy Kogawa
  • Prof. Lynn Conway

The Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees and Other Forms of Recognition welcomes suggestions of worthy candidates to receive an Honorary Degree. Nominations may be submitted at any time.
