Overview  

The University of Victoria is excited to launch the Green Office Certification Program, a pilot initiative designed to empower employees to create more sustainable workplaces. This program helps departments and offices improve their environmental and social sustainability through collective and individual actions. By focusing on infrastructure, materials, office practices, and management systems, participants contribute to UVic’s broader sustainability goals, in alignment with the CSAP 2030 

Strategy 9.1 
Action: Provide opportunities for employees to be literate in the causes and impacts of climate change and competent in their individual contributions to climate and sustainability action in their roles. 


Certification Benefits

How the Green Office Certification Program Works  

The Green Office Certification Program is structured to support Sustainability Champions—enthusiastic individuals from each participating office—to lead efforts toward sustainability within their teams. Participants gain access to valuable resources, recognition, and support to make meaningful changes.  

Sustainability Champions Network  
A platform to connect with like-minded individuals across campus, share ideas, and find inspiration for sustainable office practices.  

Resource Toolkit  
Templates, best-practice guides, and communication materials to help implement sustainable actions in your office.  

Recognition  
A certification framework with four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, to celebrate your office’s achievements and progress.  

Support Structures  
Ongoing guidance, training sessions, and check-ins led by the Office of Sustainability to ensure your team’s success.
