Groups are offered either in-person or via Zoom. To sign up for any of the following, please email swgroups@uvic.ca and include your name, V-number and the workshop you are interested in.

ADHD Virtual Workshop Series

Join this series of virtual, interactive sessions featuring presentations from the fields of medicine, psychology, nutrition, wellness promotion, pharmacy and academic learning strategists. Any currently registered UVic student with newly diagnosed or known ADHD condition may join.
Sessions can be attended in any order, though are most valuable attended together. Space is limited.

Career Curiosity

Invest in your future to explore your career possibilities and connections to program planning. In this workshop you will complete a variety of self assessment exercises and develop a plan for discovering future career possibilities!

Emotional Life Raft Group

This three-session “hands-on” skills group is designed for people who find emotional reactivity gets in the way of their personal or academic success. Drawing from dialectical behaviour and cognitive behavioural therapy the sessions use information sharing, skills practice and personal reflection to build emotional management skills.

Grad Students Conversation Circle

Connect with your peers in this confidential sharing space and get through grad school together. Open to all UVic graduate students, this Conversation Circle offers a supportive, confidential space to learn, share, and connect with other grad students.  Come share your challenges and joys.  Bring your questions. Receive and give support to fellow students.

Into the Transverse

This is a group for students who identify as trans, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming. Over the course of this four-week workshop, we will draw on Art Therapy and Narrative Therapy to explore resilience, building affirming connections, and trans joy. Through creative exploration, session focus will be collaboratively determined with group members, focusing on topics like building affirming connections, trans joy, and gender liberation. No previous art-making experience is required.

Self Care: Finding Balance

Join this workshop to learn eight areas of self-care to attain a healthy life balance. These areas are physical, emotional, intellectual, contextual, spiritual, sensory, nutritional and interactional. Wendy will teach a Self Mandala concept to understand where you may need to focus your attention in order to be more balanced.

Women's Group

This six session support group is intended for female self-identified individuals to explore issues related to themselves and within relationships. Topics will be co-created with the group participants and facilitator(s), which may include areas such as: self criticism, people-pleasing, boundaries, assertiveness, self compassion, giving and receiving. Concepts will be shared that allow students to be curious, explore, support understanding, consider letting go and welcoming potential change. Some possible areas of exploration: family of origin impacts, relationship impacts, self reflection. Maximum 12 students for this group.
