In response to the rapid expansion of UVic’s civil engineering program, the Engineering Expansion Project aims to provide space for a new classroom, laboratory, and several new staff areas.  The expansion will come in the form of two new buildings, one being an add-on to the existing ECS building (ECSE) and the other being a separate structure housing the High Bay Research and Structures Lab (HBRSL).

This expansion is unique in that it will provide an opportunity for students to learn about green engineering through the design of the building, as the design team will strive to build a sustainable structure that is eligible for LEED Gold v4 certification,  reduces GHG emissions and includes a robust energy efficiency plan.

The Engineering Expansion Project is currently in its design phase, with the project expected to come to a close in Spring 2024 (ECSE) and Summer 2024 (HBRSL).
