We're always working to improve interior spaces at UVic. Our solutions (including standard furniture) are flexible, sustainable and cost-effective. We prioritize accessibility in our planning. We work on all academic and administrative spaces including labs, classrooms, and offices.
During the design phase, we provide designs, plans and estimates for your approval. We can work with your existing furniture and surplus assets to reduce costs when we reconfigure spaces.
In the first phase of a renovation, we'll work with you to determine your requirements and create a plan and budget. We'll provide detailed architectural diagrams and a cost estimate.
If we want to go ahead with the build, we'll manage procurement, contracts, consultants and contractors, logistics, and installation on your behalf. We receive quotes, place orders, track shipments, organize installations and follow up with any concerns.
Renovation costs can include:
- wages for skilled trades work
- discretionary overtime
- material and supplies
- furniture (new and surplus)
- moving and temporary storage
- removing surplus furniture, recycling, and waste
- AV design equipment (done by University Systems)
- network wiring and wall ports (done by University Systems)
- project management services
- administration fees
- external contractors or consultants
We charge an additional 5% on top of renovation costs for our design team's services. This reflects our ongoing role helping to manage purchasing, deliveries, installations, contractors and change.
Note that most renovations that beyond the planning and costing stage will also require project management services which will cost an additional 5%.

We'll help with planning and logistics for moves of offices, laboratories and classrooms. We’ll help with furniture and cabinetry layouts and selecting finishes and materials. We’ll move your existing furniture, obtain new furniture and manage installs. Once the move is planned out, we can use the Distribution Services team or private movers to do the heavy lifting.
If you need to move with hazardous materials, specialized equipment and confidential materials, we work with Campus Security, Risk Management and Insurance, Occupational Health and Safety, and other units and contractors to make sure your move is safe and secure.
