Emergencies

Report an emergency

To report an emergency or assault, call 9-1-1 first, then contact Campus Security at 250-721-7599.

Submit service requests with FMIS

FMIS is our facilities management software. Staff and faculty outside of Facilities Management can use it to request and monitor work orders for our services.

Most departments have 1 or 2 designated admin staff—often an administrative officer (AO) or assistant—who have access to FMIS and manage routine maintenance and service requests for their department staff. If you don't have access to FMIS and don't know who can submit requests on your behalf, ask your supervisor or department AO or you can contact us for help.

Department-funded services like event support, custom signage, furniture purchases and rentals and on-campus deliveries must be requested through FMIS.

Report maintenance issues on the web

You can also report maintenance issues online such as:

  • spills
  • problems with heating and air quality in classroom and admin buildings
  • damaged furniture and finishes in classrooms and public areas
  • missing or damaged wayfinding and emergency signage
  • graffiti on UVic buildings and property
  • Sort-It-Out stations that need to be emptied

You don't need access to FMIS to report general maintenance issues.

Report accessibility barriers

You can report accessibility barriers in UVic's physical environment. We're responsible for maintenance of UVic buildings and grounds including:

  • elevators and power door openers
  • height-adjustable desks and accessible furniture in classrooms
  • wayfinding signage and maps
  • pathways and building entrances

Typically, you should report accessibility barriers that affect your work to your supervisor. They can help solve the problem or make sure you have access to tools or accommodations you need.

You can also report barriers independently to UVic's Accessibility Committee, even if they don't affect you directly. Reports help the committee understand and prioritize the needs of the UVic community.
