Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities
The Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities (CARSA) will provide a new home for UVic's Department of Athletics and Recreation and for CanAssist, which develops and delivers technologies, programs and services to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities.
A renewed consultation process has been underway for a parkade related to CARSA. UVic developed a new design for the parkade after several options were presented to the public at a series of open houses in March 2012. The final revised design is three levels lower than the design originally presented to the District of Saanich in 2011, and includes one level underground. UVic has also enhanced bike storage within the parkade in response to the community feedback.
The revised design and three exterior options for the parkade were presented at a second set of four open houses April 28 to May 2. That material can be viewed here. Community members were encouraged to submit feedback at the second set of open houses and also online.
After the final feedback on the revised design and exterior options has been considered, UVic is anticipating that the updated variance application will be submitted to the District of Saanich in early June.
