Admission
This post-degree professional program (PDPP) is for degree holders who want to teach elementary or middle classes. Apply to the Faculty of Education as a post-secondary degree holder.
Application deadlines
If the deadline for an upcoming entry point has passed, you may still be able to submit a late application.
September entry
- Apply to UVic by: January 2
Admission requirements
- A bachelor's degree from a recognized institution that is acceptable to the University of Victoria.
- A minimum average of "C+" (3.00 on the UVic 9-point scale) on the most recent 12 UVic units attempted (24 credits = approximately 8 courses).
- A minimum average of "C+" (3.00 on the UVic 9-point scale) on the most recent two full years of courses attempted (30 UVic units = 60 credits).
Note: 3.0 UVic units are equivalent to two half-year courses or 6 credits at most BC colleges and universities.
English
- Two courses in approved English (total of 3.0 UVic units), including a minimum 1.5 units of approved literature.
- A minimum C+ grade in each of your two approved English courses.
Canadian Studies
- Two courses in approved Canadian Studies (total of 3.0 UVic units).
Mathematics
- Two courses in approved Mathematics (total of 3.0 UVic units), completed within ten years of program entry.
- A minimum C+ average grade in your two approved mathematics courses.
Laboratory Science
- Two courses in approved Laboratory Science (total of 3.0 UVic units), completed within ten years of program entry.
Supplemental application information
In addition to meeting the admission requirements, you must have a minimum of 50 hours of practical experience working with children or youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

English language proficiency
You must demonstrate English language proficiency to attend UVic. Your transcripts are enough to prove proficiency if you've studied full-time in an academic program at the high school or post-secondary level within Canada for at least four years, and all of your instruction was in English.
