Greek and Latin Language and Literature

Why choose Greek and Latin Language and Literature at UVic?

Learn to read ancient Greek to gain a better understanding of our modern languages. You will eventually be able to read Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, Aristotle and Plato in their original language. By learning to read Latin, you will be able to read Virgil’s Aeneid, Cicero’s speeches and Ovid’s poetry in their original form. You will also learn theoretical approaches to these works, including feminist and queer theory, post-colonialism and more.

Semester in Greece

Spend a semester in Athens, Greece to immerse yourself in Greek culture, take language classes and study the material remains of Ancient Greece.
