Printing, scanning & copying
Self-serve black-and-white and colour printing is available in most libraries and computer labs. Printing services are provided through print management software called PaperCut.
Free self-serve scanning is available at several locations. Paid copying is available in the libraries.
You need a valid NetLink ID and ONECard flex funds to print. You don’t need your physical card.
Other options for printing, scanning and copying:

Notes:
- An impression is a printed side of a page. A single piece of paper that's printed on both sides is 2 impressions. Standard laser printers print double sided by default.

- Refunds are not available for user error or unused ONECard flex funds. For more information about the ONECard refund policy, read the cardholder agreement.

Print from your own device (PaperCut Mobility)
You can set up PaperCut Mobility on your own devices for quicker printing in UVic libraries and labs. PaperCut Mobility allows you to print straight from your own device.
- If you're not on the campus network, connect to UVic's Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- Go to Mobility Print setup.
- Follow the instructions for your device on the Mobility Print setup page.
- If you're prompted to enter your PaperCut account or network login, use your NetLink ID and passphrase.

You can add whichever printers you want to use, based on location and type of printing (black-and-white or colour). You can remove printers when you're done with them or re-run the installer to add additional printers at any time.
In Mearns - McPherson:

Copying
Self-serve photocopying is available in the Mearns Centre for Learning and Diana M. Priestly Library.

To use the library photocopiers and microform reader-printers, you'll need to buy a copy card. These cards are reusable and have no expiry date.
Copy cards are available at from the Ask Us Desk in Mearns - McPherson Library and the loan desk in the Priestly Library. Value can be added to copy cards in $1 denominations (minimum $1). Any value remaining on the copycard is not refundable.
To care for your copy card:
- Do not bend, scratch or write on the card.
- Do not try to pull the card out of the card reader.
- Keep the card away from heat and magnetic fields.
- Return your empty card to the library to be recycled.
Copyright
Remember to follow the Canadian Copyright Act and the Access Copyright License rules when printing, copying and scanning. These restrictions are posted at printer and photocopier stations.

If you need help in a computer lab, the support desk staff can answer any questions and help with troubleshooting PaperCut. They can also reprint your job if it fails for technical reasons like paper jams, streaking toner or equipment failure.
