Monthly permits

If you commute to UVic daily to work or study, monthly parking permits are the most convenient and economical option. You can purchase monthly parking permits online or in person at Campus Security.

If you aren't a daily visitor to campus, hourly or daily passes may be better suited to your needs. You can also get short-term parking passes (for up to 90 minutes).

Buy a permit

You can buy any of the standard monthly permit types (general, reserved, value and motorcycle/scooter):

Permits are digital. You don't need to display a ticket or placard in your car. You do need to register your license plate with Campus Security. You can also do that using the UVic Parking Portal.

Parking map

All UVic parking areas are labelled on our parking map. General, reserved and short-term spaces are colour coded.

Where can I park?

Different permits are valid in different spaces.

Unless you have an accessible parking placard, no monthly parking permits are valid in short-term parking spaces.

If you have a general permit, you can park in general spaces.

In the numbered parking lots outside of Ring Road, most spaces are general parking. Reserved spaces, short-term spaces and passenger and loading zones in numbered lots are indicated with signs. If you have a general permit but park in a reserved, accessible or short-term space, you may get a citation.

There is limited general parking inside Ring Road in lots B, C and E.

In the Honk app, parking lots with general spaces are labelled "Long term."

Evenings (after 5 pm) and weekends: General permits are also valid in reserved spaces, but not accessible or short-term spaces.

If you have a reserved permit, you can park in reserved spaces. Most reserved spaces are in the lettered parking lots inside Ring Road and the Jamie Cassels Centre parkade, but there are some in numbered parking lots too.

If you have a value permit, you can park in general spaces in 4 specific lots north of McKenzie Ave:

  • the Ian Stuart Complex (ISC 1 and ISC 2 on our parking map, zone 8218 on Honk)
  • the Velox rugby club (16 on our parking map, zone 8229 on Honk)
  • Lam Circle in Family Housing (Lam Circle on our parking map, zone 8230 on Honk).

If you have a motorcycle/scooter permit, you can park in designated motorcycle/scooter spots both in and outside of Ring Road.

If you have an accessible UVic parking permit, you can park in general, reserved, short-term and accessible spaces. In addition to having a UVic parking permit, you must display valid permit from SPARC BC or another government-recognized agency.

Accessible parking permit

There are over 70 accessible parking spaces on campus. We have accessible parking spaces in every parking lot. To use accessible parking spaces, you must:

  • have a UVic accessible parking permit, and
  • display a valid accessible parking permit placard (issued by SPARC BC or another government-recognized issuer)

Accessible parking permit

Cost: $52/month

Accessible permits are valid for any general, reserved, short-term or accessible parking space. You must have a valid accessible parking permit placard (issued by SPARC BC or another government-recognized issuer) to buy an accessible permit.

Temporary medical permit

If you have a temporary medical situation, you may qualify for a temporary medical permit. A temporary medical permit allows you to park in reserved or short-term parking while paying for a general parking permit.

To get a temporary medical permit, you must provide a doctor’s note. The permit will be issued for a maximum of 30 days. For situations lasting longer than 30 days, you can apply for an accessible parking permit through SPARC BC.
