Motor pool rentals

Campus Security has vehicles that are available for UVic employees for short- and long-term rentals. These vehicles are only available for business related to UVic.

Rent a vehicle

To rent a vehicle:

  • Complete the form below and submit. You will need the driver's driver license number and a FAST account.
  • We will reply within 1 to 3 business days.

Payment

  • Rates are based on the type of vehicle, length of rental and kilometers driven. 
  • Daily charges apply to partial days. The cost isn’t prorated for rental periods of less than a day.
  • There's a minimum charge of $75.
  • Payment must be made by FAST transfer.
  • The rental fee includes the cost of fuel and insurance.

Terms and conditions

  • Rentals are based on a first come, first served basis.
  • The vehicle will only be operated by you unless another person has signed as a co-driver and registered their driver’s licence with Campus Security.
  • The vehicle will only be used for UVic business.
  • The only passengers allowed in the vehicle must be at least one of the following:
    • UVic employees
    • on UVic business
    • official guests
  • Transportation of animals is not permitted, unless the animal is a certified service animal.
  • You will be liable for traffic violations and criminal charges from failure to obey traffic regulations and observe safe driving practices. This liability includes parking violations and photo radar tickets.
  • You must report all traffic violations and criminal charges to Campus Security.
  • If the vehicle is involved in any accident, no matter how slight, you must immediately report it to the jurisdictional police department and Campus Security at 250-721-7599 (available 24 hours a day).
  • When you leave the vehicle, all doors and windows must be locked and the emergency brake must be applied.
  • Smoking is not permitted inside the vehicle.
  • Transporting open liquor is an offence under the Provincial Liquor Act. No alcohol beverages are to be opened or consumed in the vehicle at any time. It is your responsibility to evict anyone from the vehicle or deny them entry if they violate this rule or you have reason to believe they may do so.
  • You will return the vehicle in a reasonably clean condition, similar to the condition you received it in. Garbage such as papers, wrappers and cans must be removed.
  • If carpets or upholstery are excessively soiled during the rental period, cleaning costs will be charged to the rental department’s FAST account.
