Academic skills support
The Academic Skills Centre (ASC) helps students strengthen their academic communication and study skills. Advisors support reading, writing, speaking, understanding academic expectations, study skills and more. Meet with an advisor in-person or online.
Math and stats assistance
The Math & Stats Assistance Centre (MSAC) offers collaborative study spaces where you can work on your 100- and 200-level math and stats courses and free tutors if you get stuck on a concept or a problem.
Academic integrity
Our academic integrity and learning facilitator offers one-on-one appointments to support you in building confidence and skills. You can get help with:
- Using generative AI tools responsibly
- Understanding plagiarism and how to avoid it
- Navigating UVic’s academic integrity policies
- Collaborating effectively in group work

Student awards
Find opportunities to learn more about your field of study and gain experience. We coordinate two undergraduate research awards that help you explore your interests, build research skills and work closely with faculty mentors.

If you're a first- or second-year student, you can get an early start on research and applied learning in your field of study. Build your skills, explore your interests and gain hands-on experience as part of a guided research project.
- Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards (JCURA)
If you're a third- or fourth-year student, you can design and carry out an original research project that deepens your learning, develops your expertise and contributes new knowledge in your field.
