Communities of practice

We offer several Communities of Practice (CoPs) that bring together instructors and staff in a collaborative forum to share expertise, explore innovative approaches and strengthen learning and teaching at UVic. Each community focuses on a specific area of practice.

Academic integrity

The Academic Integrity CoP offers space to discuss pedagogical approaches fostering a culture of academic integrity. Through our gatherings, colleagues can connect with one another, share experiences and perspectives and discuss emerging academic integrity questions and concerns.

Please note: this is separate from our Academic Integrity Advisors Peer Learning group.

Accessible teaching & learning

The Accessible Teaching and Learning CoP supports development of access-centred, inclusive teaching practices through shared learning, dialogue and practical strategies aligned with UVic’s Accessibility and Equity Action Plans. All members of the UVic teaching community are invited to attend and engage within their capacity.

BIPOC

The Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) CoP supports inclusive and respectful teaching and learning through shared dialogue, community building and collective learning as we seek a better reality for all. All members of the UVic teaching community are invited to attend and engage within their capacity.

Generative AI

The Generative AI (GenAI) Teaching and Learning CoP provides a collaborative space to explore the ethical, accessible and pedagogically sound use of generative AI in teaching and learning, with a focus on course design, assessment and academic integrity.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL CoP) brings together instructors, researchers, and staff interested in systematically studying teaching and learning, sharing evidence‑based practices, and conducting ethical SoTL research to improve student learning outcomes.
