Collaborative study space

The Betty & Gilbert Kennedy Math & Stats Assistance Centre is located in ELL 165. You are welcome to connect with other students from your class in our main space, or study quietly in ELL 165a or ELL 165b. You can work on any of our whiteboards or chalkboard, including trying out our whiteboard tables! The room will usually be open for collaborative study from 9:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday. 

Tutors on duty

January 15th - April 8th, 2024

The Math & Stats Assistance Centre tutors will be available for drop-in tutoring starting in the second week of the term (January 15th, 2024). The schedule is also available in .pdf format.

We will have tutors available for in-person tutoring at the following times:

We will be closed 2:30-6:30pm on Friday, February 16th and all day February 18th - 24th for reading break. We will also be closed Friday March 29th - Monday April 1st for the holiday weekend.

Workshops

This semester, we will be presenting a series of workshops: 

• Triumphing over math anxiety - Wed, Jan 24th, 4:30-5:20pm Wed, Jan 17th, 4:30-5:30pm, LIBR 025. Registration through libcal. 
• Succeeding on math and stats tests - Wed, Jan 31st, 4:30-5:20pm, LIBR 025. Registration through libcal.
• Taking notes and getting the most out of class - Wed, Feb 1st, 4:30-5:20pm Wed, Jan 24th, 4:30-5:30pm, LIBR 025. Registration through libcal. 

Each workshop will cover different topics, so you are welcome to attend any one without committing to the others. If you are not available at the scheduled time, please email msacpc@uvic.ca in case there is interest in scheduling additional sessions. 

Exam Period

We will be open for tutoring during the exam period. A separate schedule will be posted here at the beginning of April.

The Learning Commons (McPherson Library) is our second location. Find us in Room 129, on the main floor of the McPherson Library, for in-person tutoring from 11:30am-1:30pm Mondays and Fridays, and 3:30pm - 5:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, during the symmer term.
