Summer 2021

Although the Math & Stats Assistance Centre will remain physically closed in the Summer 2021 term, we have gone online and are still very much here to support your academic success.

The Team is restricted to members of the UVic community; you must have a NetlinkID in order to join us, and you must have enabled your UVic Teams access first. Learn how to get started with Teams with this University Systems guide.

If you have any trouble accessing MS Teams, we have a Brightspace page where you can contact us through the discussion forums. Pre-booked appointments are also available in Zoom; only our drop-in sessions require Teams access.

Drop in or make an appointment

Our tutors respond to questions during all open hours: there is no need to make an appointment! Just follow this link to our MS Team, and the next available tutor will meet with you in a video call or text channel.

If you prefer to plan ahead, you can pre-book a 20-minute appointment with a Math & Stats Assistance Centre tutor using our online booking calendar (log in with your UVic NetlinkID). For appointments, you can choose to meet in Teams or in Zoom. 

Self-paced review

The Math & Stats Assistance Centre has prepared some self-paced review modules for students who are preparing for certain first-year courses this term. To access these materials, please enrol yourself in MSAC Online, our Brightspace site.

Exam Period Schedule

We will be open in Exam Period too! Our exam period schedule will be posted in late July.

Collaborative study space

Due to public health guidelines, the Betty & Gilbert Kennedy Math & Stats Assistance Centre (DTB A202) is physically closed in the Fall 2020 term. However, we have created a collaborative online space in Microsoft Teams - including private channels that students can use to meet together whenever our tutors are on duty! Tutors on duty

Tutors are available at the following times:

  • Mondays - Thursdays, 10am-2pm and 3:30-7:30pm PT
  • Fridays, 10am-2pm and 3:30-5:30pm PT

To know when we can support your course, please see our schedules by tutor as well as by course. 

Please note that we will be closed on October 12th (Thanksgiving), 3:30-5:30pm on Nov 6th (Reading Break), and Nov 9th-11th (Reading Break). 

Exam Period

We will have a special exam period schedule, which is usually finalized in mid-October.

Booking appointments

You can pre-book an appointment with a Math & Stats Assistance Centre tutor using our online booking calendar. Please see the demonstration below.

Appointments must be made at least 90 minutes in advance, and at most a week in advance. We have tutors taking drop-in questions during all open hours, so you are welcome to come to the team and ask questions when you are unable to make an appointment.

Self-paced review

We know that many students experienced unexpected changes to their learning environments in March, and that this might have impacted your learning at the time. To help support 1st- and 2nd-year students who might be concerned about their readiness for their Fall courses, the Math & Stats Assistance Centre has prepared some self-paced review modules.
