Fall 2021

Informed by provincial health guidelines, the Math & Stats Assistance Centre is currently offering a blend of in-person and online tutoring supports for the Fall 2021 term.

Our schedule by tutor for the rest of the term is now posted. There are also a schedule by course for in-person tutoring and a schedule by course for online tutoring. All schedules were updated October 22nd.

There will be a different schedule for the exam period, which will be posted at the beginning of December. 

Collaborative study space

The Betty & Gilbert Kennedy Math & Stats Assistance Centre is currently being renovated. We look forward to welcoming students back into our space for individual and collaborative studying once our new location in the Elliot building is ready!

Tutors on duty

September 20th - December 3rd, 2021

We will have tutors available for in-person tutoring in Library 129 at the following times:

  • Mondays - Thursdays, 10am-2pm and 3:30-7:30pm PT
  • Fridays, 10am-2pm and 3:30-5:30pm PT

Tutors are also available online through our Microsoft Team (see below) at the following times:

  • Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays 12pm-2pm PT
  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 12pm-2pm and 3:30-5:30pm PT

Please note that we will be closed on September 30th (Truth and Reconciliation Day), October 11th (Thanksgiving), and Nov 10th-12th (Reading Break).

We will have a special exam period schedule, which is usually finalized by the beginning of December.

Virtual tutoring in MS Teams

As of Oct 25th, tutors will be available online Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays 12-2pm PT as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-2pm and 3:30-5:30pm PT. 

If you have any trouble accessing MS Teams, we have a Brightspace page where you can contact us through the discussion forums. Pre-booked appointments are also available in person or in Zoom; only our drop-in online sessions require Teams access.

Booking appointments

We have a limited number of appointments available for pre-booking  for online tutoring! Sign in to our booking software with your Netlink ID and password. The first time you sign in you will be asked to set up an account.

To ensure you are assigned to a tutor who helps with your course, please select a focus from the drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Currently, pre-booked appointments are only available for online tutoring sessions. All in-person tutoring is by drop-in only until further notice.

Exam Review Information

Review problems for the math exam reviews will be available on the course Brightspace page before the session. Stat 252 will write a practice final 10am-12pm (shorter than the actual exam) before a tutor goes over solutions 12-1pm. The Stat 255 exam review will go over solutions to Sample Final Examination 2 from the course supplement, while the study session will be a study room in the library for only Stat 255 students with tutors available to answer questions.

Collaborative study space

Due to public health guidelines, the Betty & Gilbert Kennedy Math & Stats Assistance Centre (DTB A202) is physically closed in the Spring 2021 term. We will be closed for Family Day and Reading Break Feb 15th - 19th, Good Friday April 2nd, and Easter Monday April 5th.

We will have a special exam period schedule, which is usually finalized in mid-March.

Booking appointments

You can pre-book an appointment with a Math & Stats Assistance Centre tutor using our online booking calendar. Please see the demonstration below.

Appointments must be made at least 2 hours in advance, and at most a week in advance. We have tutors taking drop-in questions during all open hours, so you are welcome to come to the team and ask questions when you are unable to make an appointment.

Betty & Gilbert Kennedy Math & Stats Assistance Centre is our primary location, but is currently being renovated. We look forward to welcoming students into our new location in the Elliot building when it is ready!

The Learning Commons (McPherson Library) is our second location. Find us in Room 129, on the main floor of the McPherson Library, for in-person tutoring.
