Outcomes
Graduates with a Certificate in Health Terminology and Interoperability Standards will be able to:
- lead, facilitate and support the adoption and management of controlled terminologies and interoperability standards across the entire standards lifecycle
- recommend the creation, distribution and update of controlled terminologies and interoperability standards documentation
- describe the types of controlled terminologies and interoperability standards used in health care
- demonstrate knowledge of controlled terminology and interoperability standard tools and resources used in health care
- evaluate controlled terminology tools for terminology development, management and use
- collaborate, facilitate and support the use of controlled terminology solutions as part of interoperability standards

Admission requirements
Program specific requirements
- completion of a 4-year baccalaureate degree
- equivalent of a minimum B (5.0 GPA) average in the final two years of your degree
- a background in information technology or health is an asset
As part of your application, you must submit:
- two assessment reports from academic referees
- referees should attach a letter of reference with the assessment report to strengthen your application
- if it’s been more than 5 years since you attended a post-secondary institution, you should include 2 assessment reports from current or former employers in place of academic referees
- a personal resumé which includes:
- education background
- employment history
- professional/academic affiliations
- other achievements such as publications or awards, up to a maximum of 4 pages
- A letter of intended study describing:
- your consideration for enrollment
- how you will use the knowledge in your workplace
- ways the program will improve/change your personal career
