Writing students gain practical experience at UVic's student newspaper

Work in your field

Chen shoots concert photos. Susan sells tickets in the box office. Jasmine stage-manages the recital hall. Kamal offers technical support. What do they all have in common? They don’t have to leave campus to work.

By working on-campus, students can gain valuable work experience in each department ranging from box office and front of house to stage management, costuming, technical support, visual resources, videography, photography, audio recording and more.

The work study program is funded by UVic’s Student Awards and Financial Aid office, which provides additional financial assistance through on-campus part-time employment opportunities for students with documented financial need.

Fine Arts also runs its own Media Job Board, where short-term positions are posted for students interested in professional writing, media documentation of concerts and lectures, film and video editing, web work, and more. These are more freelance positions and don’t have the same financial-need restrictions.
