Impact
Fine Arts research and creative production has a demonstrated impact in areas of social responsibility, including aging and wellness, gender and identity, and applied theatre, among others. Our infrastructure includes a new digital fabrication lab, digital audio lab, CFI-funded Hi-Def Story Incubator Laboratory, Studios for Integrated Media, and designation as Canada’s only All-Steinway School. We are responsive to student and industry demands, and actively seek out new opportunities for partnerships that enhance innovation, engage with community partners, mobilize knowledge in society, and support entrepreneurship.

Faces of UVic Research: Maureen Bradley
Maureen Bradley is a screenwriter, filmmaker and a professor at the University of Victoria Faculty of Fine Arts. In this video she discusses the work that is taking place in the Story Incubator Lab, work that is using local stories to reach a global audience. She also discusses a new film on which she is currently working, called Burning Down My House, and describes the vital contribution of Fine Arts departments to universities. Faces of UVic Research: Paul Walde
Paul Walde is a professor with the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Victoria Faculty of Fine Arts. His unique body of work suggests unexpected interconnections between landscape, identity, and technology and includes painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, installation and audio. In this video he discusses how his interest in landscape has led him to the issue of global climate change and he speaks to the importance of art as a way to get people thinking about the world.
