Arts & culture

Culture and the creative arts help us make sense of the world and ourselves. As we become increasingly aware of cultural diversity on a regional, national and global scale, we turn to the arts for common ground.

UVic’s commitment to arts and culture programming make this a natural place for students who want to explore and celebrate cultural differences and interactions.

Venues

UVic is home to many venues, both on and off campus. We host over 200 theatre, music, dance performances and cultural events per year. You don’t have to be a student to attend! Enjoy a symphony, watch a play or take a yoga class. In 2023/24 alone, over 20,000 people attended UVic cultural and artistic events.

Galleries

UVic has more art on view in public spaces than any other university in Canada. Tour our 2,000 works of art on campus, visit our art gallery in downtown Victoria, or explore the broader art collections all managed by Legacy Art Galleries.

Programming

You’ll find a range of excellent arts and culture programming at UVic. Find an expert to speak at your event or tune in to our student-run radio station.
