President's Chairs

Marine conservation scientist Natalie Ban is a UVic President's Chair.

Created to further UVic's strategic goals, the President’s Chair is the highest academic honour UVic can bestow on a faculty member. A limited number of President’s Chair positions are awarded to recognize faculty who achieve great distinction in research and research-inspired teaching; made substantial contributions to UVic and the wider community; and are capable of championing excellence in research and teaching.

UVic is proud to have awarded this designation to the following outstanding faculty members:

Funding is provided for a five-year period, but the title of President's Chair may be held for as long as the recipient is meeting/has met the expectations of the Chair role, is a faculty member or professor emeritus, and remains in good standing with the university.
