Community Standards
To foster a supportive and inclusive community, we have shared expectations called Community Standards. These Standards reflect how best to succeed in and be supportive of a high-density living environment, all residence community members and guests (during permitted periods) are expected to adhere to the Community Standards.
For detailed information about your rights and responsibilities as a UVic resident, as well as a description of each standard, we encourage you to read the Handbook. This document describes what it means to live in residence and outlines how various residence staff support your experience. To maintain a safe and positive living environment for all, our residence staff will follow up with residents if their actions fall outside of the expectations outlined in the community standards. When necessary, this may include a meeting with a member of our staff team and the application of a sanction or status to your residence contract. On occasion, an incident may be referred to a campus partner for review. We are mindful that not all received information is accurate and we appreciate hearing your version of events to come to a reasonable outcome.
