Accessibility

  • In Denmark, services to students with disabilities is provided by a national special educational support program (SPS), as part of the Danish healthcare system. Unfortunately, exchange students are not covered by this program. This means that any service that costs money is not available for exchange students. Students needing those services will be required to pay for and/or arrange those services themselves.
  • Students who have been approved for academic accommodations for e.g. extended exam time can, however, apply to their AU Study Board to have those same accommodations apply at AU. They are advised to contact their AU academic coordinator, who will be able to assist them with all issues related to their studies at AU.

Credits

Credits at AU:

  • Full-time option (7.5 UVic units): 30 ECTS per term at AU
*Exchange students must register in at least 25 ECTS per term to meet Danish immigration requirements.

Course Evaluations at UVic:

  • Before departure, UVic students will be able to submit exchange courses to UVic for evaluation. The results will indicate how many UVic units each exchange course is worth, as well as the course equivalency.
  • Students must use the evaluation results to ensure their exchange courses credits add up to the equivalent UVic units. The total number of units for each exchange term should be 4.5 UVic units for part-time exchange or 7.5 UVic units for full-time exchange.
  • This course evaluation process will be made available and explained in detail during the pre-departure session in early October for Spring exchange terms and in late March for Fall exchange terms. Evaluations take 2-6 weeks to complete and will be emailed to students.
  • Course evaluations results are tentative until the end of the exchange term, when a second, final evaluation is conducted by OREM using the students’ exchange transcript, and the results are applied to their UVic record.

  • Green Guide: Aarhus University (AU) has an online Green Guide resource specifically for incoming students to AU. This guide details actionable tips for arriving, settling in and traveling around.
  • AU also has a campus-wide Green guide compiling suggestions for how the university community can contribute to the climate-friendly solutions being implemented around the campus.
  • Organisation and Networks: get connected! Aarhus University has compiled a list of organisations and collaborators that are involved in sustainability efforts. Some of the great resources here include the Nordic Sustainable Campus Network, the AU Garden, or the AU Climate Strategy working Group.
