Overview

Make Your Global Exchange and Coop Count – For You, Your Host Community and the World!

Are you heading out on exchange, coop or another UVic mobility program? Join the SDGs-in Action course, a free, optional mini-course to get more out of your international experience.

This course is certified by CIFAL Victoria, an accredited United Nations (UN) International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (known by the French acronym CIFAL). CIFAL Victoria provides certification for training courses that build the capabilities of individuals and communities towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participants who successfully complete this course are eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion co-signed by UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) and CIFAL Victoria.

What Is SDGs in Action?

 SDGs in Action is a short, flexible learning opportunity designed to help you make the most of your time abroad by linking your experience to real-world global challenges.

  • 100% online and asynchronous

  • Takes just 6–8 hours total

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion from UVic, CIFAL Victoria and the UN

  • Open to students on international exchange, co-op or other UVic international mobility programs.

How it works

  1. Start any time before or at the beginning of your international program.
  2. Complete 4 short online modules at your own pace.
  3. Design and execute or actively participate in a Community Engagement Project at your host institution.
  4. Submit a final reflection to receive your certificate.

Morgan is a 5th year biology student with a marine biology concentration. She organized a blood drive at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya while working as a pediatric neurology research assistant.
